SE, GAC Recognize Academic Achievement

DURANT, Okla. – The fall semester was as successful in the classroom as it was on the field or court, with nearly 150 student-athletes earning recognition for their academic achievements on either the Athletic Director's Honor Roll or through the Great American Conference Academic All-Conference teams.
 
The AD's Honor Roll recognizes those student-athletes who attain a 3.0 GPA for the fall semester, while the All-GAC Academic selections are those who have maintained a GPA of 3.3 or higher over the course of their scholastic careers.
 
The conference breaks its teams into seasons with football, volleyball and cross country falling in the fall portion, while student-athletes in the remaining sports who maintain that academic standard will be recognized later in the year.
 
In December, 15 student-athletes completed their course of study and graduated with bachelor's degrees in a variety of fields.
 
The fall also had 14 student-athletes finish with a 4.0 GPA for the semester.
 
The women's tennis team stood atop the team academic rankings with a team GPA of 3.51 and placed every member of the squad on the AD's Honor Roll.
 
Football placed eight players on the GAC All-Academic team in the fall, while volleyball added five and cross country added three.
 
To make the conference all-academic team a student-athlete must be a sophomore or beyond in classification and maintain a 3.3 GPA over the full course of their studies.
