LAWTON, Okla. – Despite jumping out to an early lead with a pair of doubles wins, Southeastern was unable to hold off the Cameron Rally in singles play, falling 5-4 in Lawton, Okla., on Wednesday afternoon.
Â
The match was originally supposed to be played in Durant, but weather forced a change of venue as well as cancelled one other home match for the Savage Storm as well as its scheduled weekend action.
Â
The loss drops the team's record to 3-1 on the season.
Â
SE jumped to a 2-1 lead with
Darija Catipovic and
Conchi Assiego taking number two doubles 8-5, followed by an 8-6 win at number three by
Ilga Racika-Racko and
Milena Vitez.
Â
Vitez would add a singles victory at number six singles, 6-1, 6-2, while
Maria Martinez added a 6-1, 6-0 win at number five in attempts to stop the Aggie rally.
Â
However, CU would take numbers one through four in singles play to couple with its win at number one doubles to edge out the 5-4 win.
