DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will set out to even its record on the season when it travels to Bethany, Okla., to take on Southern Nazarene at 6 p.m. on Sept. 26.
The Savage Storm picked up its first win of the season a week ago with a 40-27 victory over Oklahoma Baptist and is now 1-2 on the season and in Great American Conference play.
In its last outing the SE defense forced five turnovers and jumped to an early 23-0 lead thanks to three first-quarter touchdowns.
The defense put a pair of scores on the board with a DaMarius Lavender fumble recovery in the endzone on the first play of the game and later on a 67-yard interception return for a score, marking the second-straight game the defense has scored.
The Storm offense racked up 439 yards of offense, including 300 yards through the air, outgaining the Bison by more than 100 yards.
On the year Southeastern has averaged 444.3 yards per game of offense overall, while the bulk of that has come through the air at 320.7 yards per game.
Ryan Polite has connected on 61.5 percent of his passes with five touchdowns, primarily using a trio of receivers, but still completing passes to 11 different targets over the first three games.
Franky Okafor leads the way in yardage at 248 yards on 16 catches with a team-best three receiving TD, while Kaymon Farmer leads the team in catches with 23 for 218 yards and a score. Ty Miller has the biggest yards per catch average at 21.9 per reception with 219 yards on 10 grabs.
Ronnie Green leads the rushing game with 176 yards on 48 carries with three touchdowns, while Nelson Akinwande turned in the top rushing total in last week's game and has 121 yards on 33 carries with a pair of TD's.
Kevin Jones leads the defense with 17 tackles, while Wilson has a pair of interceptions and seven others have either a pick or a fumble recovery to help SE own a plus-four in the turnover margin.
SNU is coming off a 69-0 loss at the hands of East Central a week ago which dropped them to 0-3 overall and in league play.
SE is 2-0 all-time against the Crimson Storm, including a 45-0 win a season ago in Durant.
SNU comes into the game averaging 4.7 points per game while allowing opponents to score 57.7 per outing.
Offensively they are averaging 156.7 yards of offense, with Quincy Whitfield leading the ground attack with 115 yards on 36 carries, while James Mauro triggers the passing attack with 288 yards and a pair of scores while completing 45.3 percent of his passes.
The defense is allowing 537.0 yards per game to its opponents, thanks in large part to opposing teams putting up 359.0 yards per game on the ground.
