DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will square off with its second top-10 opponent of the season when it travels to Searcy, Ark., to take on No. 8 Harding at 6 p.m. on Oct. 15.
Â
Fans can catch Southeastern football on the Southeastern Sports Network on the flagship station Mix 96.1 FM or its affiliates as well as via the web at www.GoSoutheastern.com/SESportsNet. Jay Lindly will have the call with Joey McWilliams in the booth and Ed Meacham on the sideline.
Â
The Savage Storm head into the contest with a 4-2 mark on the season and in Great American Conference play and would look to close the gap on a chance at a conference championship by handing NU its first loss of the season.
Â
SE is coming off a record weekend in which the day belonged to a rushing attack that snapped the previous rushing record, set last season against Southern Nazarene, by 22 yards, finishing the day with 443 yards on the ground.
Â
Ronnie Green led the way in yardage with 220 yards on 19 carries, while
Devlon Wortham was just shy of the 200 yard mark with 195 on 20 carries, but did break the two oldest individual game, season or career record with six touchdowns. He snaps a mark of five touchdowns as well as 30 points scored held by Harlan Fannin which was set in 1922 while also breaking Fannin's record for points in a game with 36.
Â
Wortham also became Southeastern's career rushing yardage leader by passing the 2,907 yard mark set by Earnest Hunter from 1993-94, and has lifted his total to 3,066.
Â
Combined the Storm would pile up 638 yards of total offense which also breaks the team's single game record for total offense which was previously 616 set in 2014 against Arkansas-Monticello.
Â
Both Storm running backs are averaging more than 100 yards per game, with Wortham leading the league at 125.5 per contest, while Green is fourth at 102.5.
Â
Southeastern will need the passing game to play solid to top the Bisons, and the Storm air attack is led by
CB Cantwell who is completing 67.5 percent of his passes for 1,273 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Â
His top targets have been
Kaymon Farmer and
Bryce Steele who have each hauled in 22 catches, with Farmer going for 379 yards and four scores while Steele has picked up 241 yards and four touchdowns of his own.
Â
On the other side of the ball the top two defenses in the nation for forcing turnovers will be squaring off as each team is plus-two or better in turnover margin with 19 takeaways apiece.
Â
For SE a big part of that has been
Raheem Wilson who has logged four interceptions on the year along with a forced fumble and a fumble recovery while breaking up a nation's best three passes per game.
Â
The Bisons come into the contest at 6-6 and ranked eighth in the country and lead the league as the lone undefeated GAC school.
Â
HU does its offensive damage almost exclusively on the ground where it has averaged 343.2 yards per game rushing and has 10 different players who have scored a rushing TD on the season.
Â
The rushing attack is led by quarterback Park Parish who has 455 yards on the year and 10 touchdowns, while Michael Latu is next in line at 409 yards and five scores.
Â
Parish has completed just 12-of-27 passes for 306 yards on the year, with two going for touchdowns.
Â
Harding's defense has forced nine interceptions and 10 fumbles on the season and is led by Daylan Skidmore who has 33 tackles on the season.
Â
The Savage Storm will be looking for its first win over a ranked opponent since the 2004 season.
