DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern women's tennis will make its first NCAA Division II Central Regional appearance under head coach
Shawn Hamil when it travels to Tahlequah, Okla., to open play in the regional as the No. 4 seed against fifth-seeded Nebraska-Kearny at 10 a.m. on May 8.

A win on Sunday will earn them a Monday matchup with host and regional top-seed Northeastern State at 11 a.m. with a trip to the NCAA National Finals on the line.

The second portion of the Central region will be hosted by second-seeded Southwest Baptist who will take on No. 7 seed Central Oklahoma. Opposite that match third-seeded Augustana will take on sixth-seeded Northwest Missouri State.

The Savage Storm women earn the automatic qualifier after picking up its first Great American Conference tournament title and come into the tournament with a 13-3 record, but are on a 10-match winning streak which includes a win over another regional opponent in NWMSU.

SE is led by
Anna Buiukian who was named the Great American Conference Newcomer of the Year alongside first team all-conference honors. The junior from Sochi, Russia, turned in 12 doubles wins, primarily with fellow all-conference honoree
Franzi Richtsfeld, with four of those wins coming in GAC play. While in singles play she also added 10 wins, including a six match winning streak.

Maria Martinez, a sophomore from San Cristobal, Venezuela, posted 12 doubles wins with teammate
Conchi Assiego, while in single play she added 13 wins, including ending the regular season on an nine-match winning streak.

Richtsfeld, a freshman from Mainberg, Germany, ended the season on an 11-match singles winning streak while racking up 14 wins on the year. In doubles play she added 10 wins, including a six match winning streak late in the year.

UNK comes into the tournament with an 18-6 record, but dropped two of its last three, including a match with Southwest Baptist to take an early exit from the MIAA Conference Tournament.
