DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will look to stretch its current winning streak as well as its winning streak on homecoming to three games when it hosts Southern Nazarene at 2 p.m. on Sept. 24 at Paul Laird Field.
Â
The Savage Storm come into the weekend at 2-1 on the season after back-to-back wins over Ouachita Baptist and Oklahoma Baptist.
Â
Southeastern has won its last two homecoming games, topping Southwestern Oklahoma State 8-0 last season and Northwestern Oklahoma State 45-7 in 2014.
Â
Fans can catch Southeastern football on the Southeastern Sports Network on the flagship station Mix 96.1 FM or its affiliates as well as via the web at www.GoSoutheastern.com/SESportsNet. Jay Lindly will have the call with Joey McWilliams in the booth and Ed Meacham on the sideline.
In its two wins this season SE broke the 40-point mark both times and is now averaging 32.7 points per game on the year while holding opponents to 24.3 per outing.
Â
A big part of that advantage is thanks to the big play defense the Storm has exhibited through three games, forcing 11 turnovers in that span with five picks and six fumbles.
Â
Southeastern is third in the nation in turnovers gained and fifth in turnover margin, coming in plus-eight and has outscored its opponents 50-14 off turnovers on the season thus far.
Â
The defense is paced by
Bobby Jackson,
Nicholas Sierra and
Raheem Wilson who have 16 tackles apiece.
Â
Wilson is a leader in the ball hawk department with a pair of interceptions, six pass breakups and a forced fumble. He has snagged 15 picks in his career and is one shy of tying the school record of 16 held by Andrew Knight and Greg Lornes.
Â
CB Cantwell is completing 72.0 percent of his passes and is efficiently guiding the Storm passing attack with 230.3 yards per game and six touchdowns while carrying a 167.79 passer efficiency rating.
Â
Kaymon Farmer has continued to be his top target after breaking the school record for receptions, hauling in 16 catches for 319 yards and three scores, averaging 19.9 yards per catch and 106.3 yards per game.
Â
Bryce Steele is also in double-digit receptions with 13 for 128 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Â
On the ground SE has a duo of running backs who are nearly matching one another as
Ronnie Green leads the way with 55 carries for 265 yards and three touchdowns, while
Devlon Wortham is on his heels with 48 carries for 255 yards and three scores.
Â
Each back has turned in a hundred yard rushing outing and each has two touchdowns in the win at Oklahoma Baptist a week ago.
Â
Southern Nazarene comes to Durant with an 0-3 record after a 23-6 loss to East Central a week ago.
Â
The Crimson Storm is averaging 4.3 ppg on the season while allowing opponents to score 44.0 ppg.
Â
The offense is being outgained as a whole by nearly 344 yards per contest as SNU is averaging 109.7 yards rushing per game and 12.7 yards passing per contest.
Â
Terence Olds leads the rushing attack with 116 yards on the season, while he and quarterback Alec Laffoon each have a rushing touchdown.
