Savage Storm Back Home to Host HSU

DURANT, Okla. – No. 19 Southeastern returns to Paul Laird Field for the second-straight week, this time looking to snap the nation's longest road winning streak when it hosts Henderson State at 2 p.m.
 
The Savage Storm enter the contest at 6-0 on the year and ranked No. 19 in the AFCA Coaches Poll and No. 23 in the D2Football.com media poll ad are riding seven-game overall winning streak and 10-game home winning streak.
 
The Reddies come to town at 3-3 on the season but have won 29-straight road games since the formation of the Great American Conference.
 
SE is the league's second-ranked scoring offense halfway through the season, averaging 37.0 ppg, while ranking as the GAC's top defense by allowing just 20.7 ppg.
 
That Storm offense is paced by a truly split air and ground attack, averaging 201.7 ypg rushing and 245.8 ypg passing.
 
Rashod Polk has led the rushing attack with 497 yards on 78 carries, averaging 6.4 yards per touch while scoring four touchdowns.
 
The passing attack is in the hands of Austin Skinner who earned his first start in the homecoming victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State a week ago and has piled up 440 yards on 33-of-56 passing with three touchdowns.
 
Drake White and Jaylen Sims have turned Southeastern's receiving corps into one of the most dangerous big-play groups in the conference as the pair have combined for 10 passing plays of 25 yards or better, including two 60-plus yard TD passes and three total passing scores longer than 25 yards. In all, the Storm passing attack has 22 long plays of 25-or more yards.
 
Defensively, Southeastern has been led by Troy Parker who has tallied 36 tackles on the year, while the unit as a whole has spread the wealth while forcing nine interceptions, seven fumble recoveries and five sacks.
 
SE's special teams have been key to victories this season, with Joel Carlos already having a game-winning kick to his name this season while leading the conference with nine made field goals and 26 made PAT's.
 
HSU enters the weekend averaging 22.7 ppg on offense, while allowing 25.1 ppg on the defensive side of the ball.
 
The offense is putting up 378.3 yards per contest, led by a passing attack that is putting up 233.0 yards per outing behind the play of Evan Lassiter and Andrew Black.  Lassiter has 836 yards passing and four scores while completing 60.4 percent of his passes, while Black has added 516 yards and two touchdowns while completing 58.6 percent.
 
Sheldon Watson leads the HSU defense with 44 total tackles while adding a team-best four interceptions.
