ROME, Ga. – Southeastern's doubles pairing of
Guilherme Dos Santos and
Marin Jurkovic opened play at the ITA Cup in Rome, Ga., by picking up a 6-4, 6-4 victory, advancing to the tournament quarterfinals.

The duo scored their victory over Alessandro Giuliato and Ignasi Forcano which sets up a quarterfinal matchup against Muhamed Bedwan and David Rieme from Auburn-Montgomery at 2 p.m. (Eastern time) on Friday.

"This was a big win for our guys today," said head coach
Brian Nelson. "Barry is typically #1 or #2 in the country as a team in D2 tennis, and one of the two men we played today played No. 1 singles last year for them. We served very well today, never got broke. This was a big confidence booster, and we look forward to carrying that into tomorrow's match with Auburn Montgomery."

Barry started the match with serve, and after playing to 1-1 in the set, the SE duo broke the Barry serve and never looked back winning the first set 6-4.

The Buccaneer duo started set two with serve and both teams held serve through a 4-4 tie when the Savage Storm pair was once again was able to break the BU duo again and holding on to win the second set 6-4 and the match.Â
