Baseball Heads to UAM For Weekend Series

DURANT, Okla. – For the second-straight weekend, Southeastern will hit the road for a Great American Conference tilt, this time taking on Arkansas-Monticello in a three-game series beginning March 19 with a single game at 2 p.m., followed by a Saturday twinbill beginning at 1 p.m. in Monticello, Ark.
 
The Savage Storm come into the weekend with an 8-5 record overall on the year and a 5-4 mark in GAC play following a 2-1 series victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State last weekend.
 
SE is paced by Seth Morrow who is hitting .561 on the season with four homers and 20 RBI, whgile leading a group of four players who are each hitting over .300.
 
Morrow, Colton Buckner and Matt Miles have each logged four home runs, while Morrow, Buckner, Slayde Ortiz, and Reid Rice all have 10 or more RBI.
 
The pitching staff has been paced by Jacob Potter who earned his second GAC Pitcher of the Week award and was named the NCBWA Central Region Pitcher of the Week for hit complete-game shutout of the Rangers.  He has put together a 2-1 record with a 1.93 ERA and 30 strikeouts over 28.0 innings pitched in four starts.
 
In all, the Storm starters have combined for six wins, with Mason Whitmarsh earning three of those, while Logan Teske has a pair of saves and Jacob Bigham has one.
 
The Boll Weevils head into the weekend with a 4-7 record overall and a 4-5 mark in league play after dropping two out of three versus Arkansas Tech as part of a stretch in which they have lost five of their last six.
 
Jordan Johnson leads the offense with a .375 average that includes two triples and two homers, while Aaron Gaela has a team-best nine RBI.
 
River Hunt leads the pitching staff with a 2-0 record and a 1.80 ERA in three starts with 16 strikeouts in 15.0 innings pitched.
