Baseball Opens OBU Series Friday

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern baseball aims to get back on track when it heads to Shawnee, Okla., for a three-game series against Oklahoma Baptist, with a single game slated for 6 p.m. on April 2 and a doubleheader set for 1 p.m. on April 3.
 
The Savage Storm come into the series at 11-9 overall on the year and 7-8 in Great American Conference play and looking to shake off a trio of losses to Southern Arkansas last weekend.
 
SE will be leaning on its offense that has been powered by Seth Morrow who leads the conference with a .457 average while adding nine doubles, six homers, and 26 RBI, all of which rank first or second in the league.
 
He is followed by Colton Buckner at .329 and Slayde Ortiz at .304, with Buckner connecting on five homers and 17 RBI while Ortiz has a pair of home runs and 14 RBI.
 
Matt Miles also has four home runs and has driven in 10, while Reid Rice has 12 RBI on the year.
 
Jacob Potter has paced the SE starters on the hill, posting a 2-1 record on the season with a 2.57 ERA that includes a pair of complete games, one shutout, and 32 strikeouts over 35.0 innings of work in five starts.
 
KC Bryan carries the team's low ERA at 2.35 over 6 innings in relief, while Logan Teske has a pair of saves.
 
Mason Whitmarsh has compiled a 3-3 record in six starts with a 4.61 ERA, while Tyler Dean has a pair of wins as well in six starts.
 
OBU comes into the weekend with a 12-7 record overall and an 11-4 mark in league play.
 
They are led offensively by Kaimana Bartolome who is hitting .408 with five home runs and 18 RBI, while Hector Ruvalcaba is right behind at .396, and just ahead at seven home runs and 20 RBI.
 
Jake Lipetzky leads the Bison starts with a 2-2 record and a 3.45 ERA in six starts while striking out 40, while Brett Biggs has a 3-0 record and two saves in seven relief appearances.
