DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern's
Maalik Hall added another honor to his resume as he was named an honorable mention All-America selection to the 2021 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America Team.
Â
Hall, a junior from Athens, Texas, was most recently named to D2Football.com's Elite 100 team for 2021.
Â
He now becomes the first All-American selection for SE football since Raheem Wilson in 2016, and is the first to earn the honor from Don Hansen since Drew Beard and Kevin Burton in 2004.
Â
Hall, a junior from Athens, Texas, wrapped his season by picking up the Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Year award as well as a first-team nod and would go on to become the first player since Wilson in 2016 to earn first team All-Super Region 3 honors.
Â
He was one of the most disruptive defenders in the conference over the 2021 season, piling up 53 tackles, including 12 tackles for loss and six sacks while adding a pair of pass breakups, four QB hurries, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.
Â
Hall helped Southeastern to its first nine-win season since 2005 and marking one of the biggest program turnarounds in NCAA Division II history, finishing 9-3 after posting a 1-10 season in 2019.
