DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern athletics held Southeastern Choice Awards banquet on Wednesday night at Choctaw Casino and Resort, handing out a series of honors ranging from team MVP's and scholar-athlete honors to the naming of the finalists for the Male and Female Athletes of the Year.

The event was organized by the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and was emceed by the group's president
Grace Shehadeh and vice-president
Adam Dworsky.

A total of eight student-athletes were named as finalists for the Athlete of the Year honors, three women and five men.

Below are the women finalists:
Cheyenne Mahy (Softball); Hitting .338 with Team Best 33 RBI; 15 2B and 4 HR; Has a 14-8 record in the circle with a 4.44 ERA and 119 strikeouts; Has two no-hitters, one of them a perfect game this season

Skye Royall (Women's Tennis); piled up 17 victories playing primarily in the one and two position in singles play and added 12 doubles wins; helped SE to a regional ranking

Martie Shockley (Rodeo); ranked seconds in the Central Plains Region in Goat Tying

Adam Dworsky (Men's Basketball); GAC Player of the Year, Earned two All-Central Region honors, First Team All-GAC, Moved into fifth place all-time in the NCAA in Assists

Cameron French (Baseball); hitting a team-best .412; has 13 2B, 3 3B, 4 HR, 39 RBI; two-time GAC Weekly Award winner

Maalik Hall (Football); GAC Defensive Player of the Year, All-American, D2Football.com Elite 100, First Team All-GAC, 54 tackles, 12 TFL, 6.0 sacks

Reid Rice (Baseball); Hitting .378, ranked among the tops in the nation in HR with 18, leads the team with 51 RBI

McKade Wickett (Rodeo); Leads the Central Plains Region in the All-Around, third in the Tie Down Roping, eight among team roping headers

Southeastern named its top Scholar-Athletes as well. The women were led by softball's
Kamarie Wallace, while on the men's side men's basketball's
Taylor Cox took home the top honor.

Three sports, baseball, softball, and women's rodeo, will hand out their MVP awards following the conclusion of their respective seasons.

Additionally, the SAAC recognized faculty and staff both within the athletics department and elsewhere on campus, this year Dan Hoke, Tony Goza, and J.P. Johnson were specially recognized for their efforts in covering Southeastern athletics through the visual medium and heightening the department's social media visibility.
