DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern women's tennis has been picked to repeat as Great American Conference champions heading into the 2023 season according to the league's preseason poll released on Tuesday.

SE edged out Arkansas Tech for the top spot, picking up 22 points in the six-team poll, including three of the possible first-place votes.

ATU was second in the poll with 20 points on one of the three remaining first-place nods.

Harding checked in third with one first-place vote, while Southern Arkansas was fourth with the remaining first-place vote.

Henderson State was picked fifth, with Ouachita Baptist rounding out the poll in sixth.

Southeastern closed out the 2022 season with a win over HU in the GAC Championship final, picking up its third conference title since joining the GAC.

The Storm return a trio of all-GAC selections in
Vanessa Nitu,
Sara Gonzalez, and
Georgia Hosking.

SE turned in a 20-8 overall record in 2022 and posted a 3-2 record in conference play, but ended the season sweeping Ouachita Baptist, Arkansas Tech, and Harding in the conference tournament before seeing its postseason run ended in the NCAA Central Regional versus Washburn.

The Storm is set to open the 2023 season on Feb. 3 in San Angelo, Texas, versus Angelo State and will open the home schedule Feb. 23 against Cameron at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
