DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern closed its home event over the weekend with
Caleb Meeks and Owen Brouilette leading the men's team to a second-place finish while
Casey Mathis helped the women to a third-place finish at the Durant Riding Club Arena over the weekend.

Meeks put together a 79-point ride in the first round of the saddle bronc competition to take the round and earn a berth in the finals where he would close the weekend with a 75 to split the top spot in the round and earn a championship in the average.

Brouilette nearly matched Meeks in the bareback riding as he opened his weekend with a 76 to win the first round and followed it up with a 73 in the finals where he would split second place but would still have enough points to win the event in the average.

Braden Tyrer would earn a spot in the finals after a ride of 67 in the first round earned him fourth in the round, but an injury would force him to withdraw.

Matchis would clock a 16.87 in the barrel racing qualifying rounds, placing second in the round and earning a trip back to the finals. She would post a 17.21 in the finals which would place her fourth in the round and leave her second in the average.

She was joined in the finals by
Jaiden Wilmoth who split seventh with a 17.2 in the first round, only to slightly improve her time in the finals to a 17.04 which finished third in the round and lifted her to fourth in the average in the barrel racing.

Back on the men's side, Jarvis Demerey would post an 11.3 in the first round of the tie down roping to finish seventh and earn a trip to the finals where he would come back with a 9.0 to split the top spot in the round and lift himself to second overall in the average.

In the team roping,
Levi James would reach the finals as a header working with Murray State's Garrett Hughes after the duo clocked an 8.6 to finish 12
th in the round, but a 6.8 in the finals would help them split third in the short-go and lift them to fourth overall in the average.

The Storm men had two other cowboys reach the finals on the men's side, with
Traden Anderson posting a 6.0 to finish eighth in the first round in the steer wrestling before coming back with a 16.5 in the finals to close out his weekend.

The other was
Caden Bunch who carded an 85-point ride in the opening round, but a prior PBR commitment would keep him from competing in the finals.

The women had their next best showing in the goat tying where a pair of cowgirls reached the finals, with
Jessie Ishmael turning in an 8.0 and
Kayleah Hurst posting a 7.8 to each reach Saturday night's final. Once there, Hurst and Ishmael would each post an 8.7 which would split them for fourth in the round, lifting Hurst to split third for the weekend while Hurst finished fifth.

In the breakaway,
Baylee Lester would take the top spot in the opening round with a run of 2.3 while
Mollie Bassett earned a trip to the finals with a 2.6 which split third place in the qualifying. Lester would turn in a 13.3 with a penalty in the finals to finish sixth in the round and sixth in the average, while Bassett went 13.5 in the finals, also with a penalty, which moved her to seventh for the weekend.

Southeastern will be back in action Oct. 19-21 when it travels to Stillwater, Okla., for the Oklahoma State Rodeo.
