Cross Country Posts Sixth-Place Finish at GAC Championship

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern had all five of its scoring runners finish within one minute of one another as the Savage Storm beat its preseason expectations on its way to a sixth-place finish at the 2023 Great American Conference Championships on Saturday morning.
 
The Savage Storm entered the season picked eighth in the preseason poll, but scored 196 points in its Saturday 5K, beating Southern Arkansas by 29 points.
 
SE was behind Harding in fifth, with East Central winning the women's championship, followed by Ouachita Baptist, Arkansas Tech, and Oklahoma Baptist.
 
Southern Nazarene crossed in eighth, followed by Northwestern Oklahoma State, Southwestern Oklahoma State, Henderson State, and Arkansas-Monticello rounding out the league.
 
Madison Rowe led the Storm with a run of 19:42.3 to finish 47^th, with Alexis Longoria just seven seconds behind in 50^th with a time of 19:49.3.
 
Arden Kesterson crossed two runners later in 52^nd with a run of 19:54.8.
 
Yazmin Reyes was the next SE runner to cross, doing so in a time of 20:23.4 to finish 62^nd, with Ashlyn Vasquez 20 seconds behind w2ith a mark of 20:43.6 to finish 68^th.
 
Genevi Martinez was the team's first displacer, clocking a run of 20:51.6 to finish 73^rd, while Sarah Coblentz was the second with a time of 21:14.3 to finish 83^rd.
 
Savannah Sandoval followed in 86^th with a time of 21:19.2, with Aereonna Cardenas crossing three places later in 89^th with a run of 21:31.4
 
Kendal Fellegy rounded out the Storm runners in 106^th with a time of 22:09.2
