Trio of School Records Pace SE Track and Field

WICHITA, Kan. – Southeastern posted a trio of school record marks and 20 top-10 finishes as it wrapped up competition at the Wilson Invitational in Wichita, Kan., hosted by Wichita State.
 
Jayda Williams put together a school record run in the 60 meter, clocking a 7.95, marking the second-ever sub 8 second run and besting the old mark by .01 seconds.
 
She led a group that included three other runners who posted top-20 times, with Caylee Conley turning in an 8.05, followed by Karissa Nixon's 8.07, and Ashton Carter's 8.10.
 
Madison Rowe wrote her name in the record book in the 600 meter where she clocked a school-best 1:41.15 which led her to a second-place finish at the event.
 
Alexis Longoria clocked the third school record, doing so in the 1,000 meter where she put together a time of 3:15.19, with three others following her in with top-20 marks, including Arden Kesterson, Genevi Martinez, and Aereonna Cardenas.
 
In the 200 meter, Ashton Carter and Madison Rowe each posted top-20 all-time marks, with Carter's run of 26.55 being good for fifth and Rowe's good for ninth.
 
Makensi Greenwood led a group of five runners who posted top-20 times in the 400 meter, posting a 1:01.53 to finish second, with Amore Armstrong right behind in third with a 1:01.63. Kaitlyn Cedillo posted a 10^th place finish at the Wilson Invite, while Kendal Fellegy and Conley were 11^th and 15^th, respectively, while also both making the SE top-20.
 
Longoria led the way in the mile run with a time of 5:36.42 which was good for fourth, while Kesterson was next across in fifth with a mark of 5:37.98, while Savannah Sandoval finished 10^th with a time of 5:51.06.
 
Jayda William turned in a top-20 time in the 60 meter hurdles with a run of 9.27 which was good for sixth in the finals, after clocking a 9.19 in the prelims. Both were top-20 times all-time.
 
She would then turn around and add a seventh-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.10 meters, before tacking on a third-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 11.10 meters.
 
Jada Johnson would join her in the top 10 in the triple jump with a jump of 10.63 meters.
 
The 4x400 meter relay squad of Rowe, Greenwood, Cedillo, and Fellegy would turn in a fifth-place finish after clocking a time of 4:14.51.
 
Back in the field events, Macayla Needham would continue to lead the way with a second-place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 15.41 meters before adding a third-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 13.52 meters.
 
Samantha Wallis also turned in top-10 finishes in both events, recording a 14.89 in the weight throw to finish sixth before hurling a 12.33 meters in the shot put for a seventh-place finish.
 
Week 1 of the national and regional rankings for Track and Field were released last Monday by USTFCCCA, Southeastern currently ranks 18th in the Central region and 66th in the Nation.
 
The Savage Storm Track and field team will be back in action on February 9-10 when they travel to Pittsburg State for the Gorilla classic
