DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern Oklahoma State heads up the road on Saturday, Oct. 26, to compete in the 2024 GAC Championship Meet in Ada. The race is set to start at 9:30 a.m. at the Oak Hills Golf and Country Club.
Last year, Southeastern placed sixth at the GAC Championships with a team score of 198, finishing in front of Southern Arkansas (7th) and Southern Nazarene (8th). SE's best finish at the championship event came in 2013 when the Storm earned a third-place finish with 113 points, just beating East Central, who completed the meet with 114 points.
The Savage Storm competed in five events in their fall regular season with three Top 5 finishes, including two second-place captures at the Rhodes Invitational and Tiger Invitational. SE would also see a fourth-place finish in its season opener at the Aggies Duels with a team score of 85.
Individually, Southeastern had five Top 15 placements across the five events, highlighted by a third-place finish from
Anjelika Abraham at the Tiger Invitational to cap off the regular season. Additionally, the junior from Wylie, Texas, would see her best time in 2024 at the Old Glory Gallop, posting an 18:35.5.
Ashlen Clem made a statement in her first season with Storm, setting a new school record in a 5K event at the Old Glory Gallop with a time of 18:27.0. Clem holds three of the four fastest times this season at a 5K run for the Storm and the fastest 6K time. The Dickson, Okla. native registered her best individual finish at the Aggies Duels, placing fifth at 18:35.14.
Veterans
Arden Kesterson and
Alexis Longoria both record a Top 15 finish in the 2024 season, as Kesterson secured 13
th at the Aggies Duels with a time of 19:14.09, and Longoria finished 7
th at the Tiger Invitational at 19:09.64.
