Kayla Earnhardt and
Casey Mathis paced the Southeastern rodeo teams with each winning an event championship, helping the women's team put together a fourth-place overall finish while the men finished fifth at the Fort Scott CC Rodeo in Fort Scott, Kan.

Earnhardt would lead the way in the goat tying where she opened the competition with a 7.1 in the first round to make the finals in third place where she then put together the best run of the final evening at 7.0 to win the round and the average in the event.

Mathis followed a similar path in the barrel racing where she opened the weekend with a run of 12.87 to finish second in the long-go before closing the weekend with a 25.77 to win the finals and the average in the event. The win also lifted her to the top spot among barrel racers in the Central Plains region.

Mataya Eklund would also reach the finals in the barrel racing after finishing fifth in the first round with a time of 12.98. She would take an 18.13 in the finals with a five-second penalty which would take her out of the average competition.

Laney Hoffman rounded out the women's finals qualifiers after advancing to the breakaway finals with a first-round mark of 3.0 which split 10th/12th. She would take a barrier penalty in the finals and clock a 12.6 to finish sixth in the round and seventh in the average.

On the men's side,
Caleb Meeks had the strongest outing as he reached the finals of the saddle bronc event with a first-round 74 which split 2nd/3rd. In the finals, he would post another 74 which would again split 2nd/3rd and earn him a second-place finish in the average overall.

Braden Tyrer would finish just off the same pace in the bareback riding, opening the weekend with a ride of 75 to finish third in the long-go. He would come back with a 73 in the finals which split 3rd/4th and would give him a fourth-place finish in the average.

Jarvis Demery would make the finals in the steer wrestling after posting an eighth-place mark in the first round before clocking a 13.7 in the finals to finish ninth in the round and in the average.

Ry Clark would make the finals in the team roping with partner Tell Tavegie from Oklahoma Panhandle State, turning in a time of 9.0 in the first round to finish 12th and advance. However, a no time in the finals would take them out of the round and the average.

Southeastern rodeo will be back in the arena April 5-7 when it travels to Garden City, Kan., for the Garden City CC Rodeo.
