EDMOND, Okla. – The Southeastern women's golf team is 11
th at the Grace Shin Invitational at the end of one round with a score of 28-over 312.
Central Missouri leads the 19-team field after the first day of play at even-par 284, holding a four-stroke advantage over Central Oklahoma in second at 4-over 288. A pair of GAC sit inside the top five, led by Arkansas Tech in third (+8) and Southwestern Oklahoma State in fifth at 15-over 299. Northwest Missouri State splits the two conference rivals in fourth at 13-over 297.
Carley Button paces the Savage Storm through 18 holes of play at 4-over 75. Button had a strong front nine, as she shot 1-under 36 with one birdie and eight pars before seeing a 5-over 39 on the back nine for a final score of 75.
Addison Oestreicher fired in a 5-over 76 in the opening round after seeing a 2-over par front nine and a 3-over 74 on the final half of the course.
Karen Kim closed out the first day of play at 7-over 78 and would see her best play come on the back nine, where she carded a 2-over 36 with a birdie.
Kaeli Drake saw a 7-over par front nine and later shot 5-over par on the back half to complete the day 12-over 83.
Ally Richard rounded out the day with a 17-over 88 in the first round of play.
Southeastern resumes action at the Grace Shin Invitational tomorrow for the final round at the Par 71 Golf Club of Edmond.
