Alex Showalter homered twice and Southeastern had five homers as a team, but it was not enough to lift them to a win in the series opener at Oklahoma Baptist as the Savage Storm fell 18-7 on Friday night in Shawnee, Okla.

The loss drops SE to 10-21 on the season and 8-11 in Great American Conference play with the final two games in the series set for a Saturday afternoon twinbill starting at 1 p.m.

Showalter homered twice and was 2-for-3 for the day, while
Payton Poole added a homer and added a 2-for-3 performance of his own.

Chase Keeton and
Wesley Mitchell each added a hit, with each of them homering.
Â
Showalter finished the contest with three RBI, followed by two from Poole and one each from Mitchell and Keeton.
Â
Daniel Collins got the start and was saddled with the loss after allowing 10 runs, seven of them earned, on six hits with three strikeouts.

Cody Pfeffer followed and allowed five runs on six hits in 3.2 innings with eight strikeouts.
Â
Tanner Carter faced the final three batters and allowed three runs on three hits.

SE found itself down early as a three-run double from the Bison in the bottom of the first provided the first runs of the game.

The Storm wasted little time responding however as Mitchell led off the second with a solo homer and four batters later Poole connected on a two-run homer to left, knotting the game at 3-3 midway through the second.

A Keeton home run in the top of the fourth gave Southeastern its first lead of the game at 4-3, but it did not last long as OBU put up five runs, two on a double and three on a homer to take an 8-4 lead after three innings.

SE fired back in the top of the fourth, with Pool driving a two-run homer to left-center followed by a solo homer from Showalter, his second of the day, closing the gap to 8-7.

OBU followed with a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to extend its lead to 10-7.

The Bison added a run in the sixth and tacked on four more in the seventh to push its lead to 15-7 after seven innings, and would close out scoring with three runs in the bottom fo the eighth to trigger the run rule with an 18-7 final score.
