Southeastern Baseball Set for GAC Tournament

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern baseball is looking to keep the bats hot when it heads to Enid, Okla., to open play in the Great American Conference Tournament on May 1 at 1 p.m. versus Arkansas Tech at David Allen Ballpark.
 
The GAC tournament consists of two, four-team double elimination tournaments with the winner of each bracket advancing to the Championship Final Series set for May 9-11 at the site of the highest remaining seed.
 
With a win in game one the Savage Storm would advance to face the winner between Harding and Ouachita Baptist at 4:30 p.m. on May 2, while a loss would have them squaring off with the loser of that contest at 9:30 a.m. on May 2.
 
Advancing beyond game two in either direction would be settled on May 3.
 
SE comes into the postseason with a 21-28 record overall and is the with seed in the tournament after sweeping rival East Central to close the regular season.
 
Chase Keeton closed the regular season as the GAC Player of the Week after his 13 hit and nine RBI performance in the final week of the season.
 
That effort lifted him to a team-high .396 average while he has piled up 10 doubles, three triples, and 15 home runs.
 
Wesley Mitchell is hitting .375 on the year and leads the Storm in power numbers with 14 doubles, 19 home runs, and 54 RBI.
 
Brady Evans checks in with a .301 average and 11 homers, while Payton Poole and Carter Olson have nine home runs each.
 
The Storm pitching staff is led by Daniel Collins with a 6.22 ERA in 13 starts with 51 strikeouts, while Cody Pfeffer comes out of the bullpen with a 4.89 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 17 relief appearances.
 
ATU comes into the postseason with a 29-19 record overall on the year and is led on offense by Cole Dawson's .401 average and Tyler Sardelli's nine homers.
 
Daniel Hutchison paces the Wonder Boy pitching staff with a 7-2 record and a 4.90 ERA, while JT Cafferty has logged six saves with a 3.15 ERA.
