FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern Oklahoma State is headed to the semifinals of the 2025 GAC Tournament after defeating Arkansas Tech 4-1 in the opening round on Friday afternoon.
The Savage Storm dominated courts one and three in the doubles round to clinch the point and take a 1-0 edge in the match. SE's partnership of
Emilse Ruiz and
Amishi Shukla was the first to finish at the No. 3 line, winning 6-1, while the ranked duo of #30
Jou Chen Chen and
Carol Mora followed not long after at No. 1 with a 6-3 win. Both doubles teams remain perfect this spring with a combined record of 25-0.Â
Â
Keeping the momentum going, Chen Chen extended the lead to 2-0, securing the first singles win of the day by scores of 6-1 and 6-1 at court six. The blue and golds lead grew to 3-0 shortly after with another straight set win for the Storm this time by Ruiz at No. 4, 6-1 and 6-1.
Â
Arkansas Tech would pull a score back at the No. 1 line, but
Milana Voloshyn would not allow a late rally from the Golden Suns, as she turned in a 6-3 and 6-3 victory from the No. 2 spot to clinch the match win.
