SAN ANTONIO, Texas – In the second meet of the season, the Southeastern cross country program claimed seventh at the IWU Invitational with a team score of 230. As a team, the Savage Storm's top-five individuals held an average time of 20:11.

The blue and gold beat out Division I Texas-San Antonio for the seventh by two points, and finished on the heels of DII member Texas A&M-Kingsville, who placed sixth with 212 points. Texas won the event with a combined team score of 17, and host Incarnate Word tied with UT-Rio Grande Valley for the next best score at 87 points.

Pacing the Southeastern times was
Katlen Clem, who crossed the finish line with a time of 19:44.9 to place 47
th individually. Joining Clem in the top 50,
Lauren Garza placed 49
th, recording a 19:47.9 at the IWU Invitational. Just on the heels of the duo,
Anahi Machuca was next to finish at the 20:10.2 mark to claim 57
th place at the event.

Southeastern soon saw a trio of runners all finish back-to-back-to-back with
Mireyda Samper first to touch the end line at 20:38.9. Just seconds later,
Anjelika Abraham finished in 69
th with a time of 20:40.2, and
Ashlen Clem would follow at 20:41.8. From there,
Devyn Doakes was next to make it to the finish line, placing 74
th with a time of 20:43.6 and was soon followed by
Calibre Keene in 79
th at the 21:04.2 mark.

Once again, the Storm would have three runners finish succession to claim 68
th, 69
th and 70
th place individually. First to cross the line was
Tatum Cross at 21:08.0, and shortly after,
Cassandra Vargas and
Genevi Martinez would finish at 21:13.0 and 21:13.7, respectively. After the trio crossed the line,
Sarah Coblentz was next to finish, turning in a time of 21:16.7, and was followed by
Aereonna Cardenas (91
st) and
Naomi Cotero (93
rd) at 21:30.7 and 21:47.9, respectively.
McKenna Wood would be the final runner for SE to make it to the finish line, crossing at 22:38.9 to claim 104
th individually.

The Savage Storm returns to action on Friday, Sept. 26 at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla., hosted by Oklahoma State.
