Women's Cross Country

Southeastern Finishes Fifth at the Aggies Duels to Open the Season

LAWTON, Okla. – Southeastern gets its season started with a fifth-place finish at the Aggies Duels, garnering 121 points as a team with two top-20 individual finishes.
 
West Texas A&M won the event with a score of 15, followed by GAC-rival East Central in second, who secured 60 points as a team. Midwestern State checked in at third, while Cameron just edged out the Savage Storm in fourth with 110 points.
 
A pair of freshmen led the blue and gold at the event, as Anahi Machuca and Lauren Garza secured a 14th-place and 19th-place finish, respectively. Machuca crossed the line at 19:32.09 to complete her first collegiate meet, while Garza touched the line at 19:36.81. Filling out the top-25, Genevi Martinez finished with a time of 19:59.18 to grab 25th individually.
 
Next to cross the line for the Storm was Devyn Doakes in 32nd with a time of 20:23.67, and was followed closely by Mireyda Samper at 20:29.11 to place 33rd. SE saw another back-to-back finish moments later, when Tatum Cross (35th) and Katlen Clem (36) made it to the line at 20:42.21 and 20:46.09, respectively.  
 
A quartet of runners for the Storm crossed the line in succession, led by Ashlen Clem at 20:54.33. Naomi Cotero followed on the heels of Clem with a time of 20:54.38 in 39th, while Anjelika Abraham crossed the line seconds later in 40th at 20:56.63. Next to finish was Calibre Keene in 41st place with a time of 21:03.93.
 
Cassandra Vargas turned in her first time of the season at 21:14.14 to place 45th individually, and later Aereonna Cardenas (48th) finished at 21:16.47. Sarah Coblentz followed at the 21:28.35 mark, and Andrea Lopez and McKenna Wood would finish at 22:27.86 and 22:46.42, respectively, to round out the event
 
Southeastern continues its 2025 season with a trip to the Lone Star on Friday, Sept. 12, when they run in the IWU Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
