Storm Set Out on Final Road Swing

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern will hit the road for its final Great American Conference road trip when it heads to Arkadelphia, Ark., to face Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State on Nov. 2 and 3, respectively.
 
The Matchup on Friday against OBU at 7 p.m. will be a step out of conference as the teams played the game that counted in the standings in Durant on Oct. 19, but Saturday's meeting with Henderson State at 1 p.m. will be the second-to-last conference contest for the Savage Storm this season as they battle this Reddie squad for the final GAC tournament berth.
 
SE dropped a hard-fought 3-2 match against the Tigers in their earlier meeting this season.
 
I that contest, Emily Gentle and Megan Kunkel each posted 17 kills as the teams traded sets before OBU snagged a 15-11 win in the fifth and deciding frame.
 
Taylor Benner tuned in 20 digs in that contest and Marina Dias turned in 23 assists as she and Madelynne Cera combined to dish out 39 assists in the match.
 
On the year, Gentle has turned in 2.97 kills per set, while Kunkel has kept pace with 2.80.
 
Cera and Dias have dished out 5.01 and 2.19 assists per set, while each helps out elsewhere on the floor.  Cera has also added 1.14 kills and 25 blocks, while Dias is chipping in 2.35 digs per set.
 
Benner has paced the back row with 3.85 digs per set and earned GAC Defensive Player of the Week honors for helping SE to back-to-back wins in league play last week.
 
Kunkel has come on strong defensively as well and is now averaging 3.01 digs per outing in addition to her offensive numbers.
 
Jasmine Everage has pushed her block total to 73 on the season with Natasha Smith adding 60 and a total of six players with more than 20 blocks on the season.
 
The Tigers enter the Friday meeting at 8-15 on the season and led offensively by Megan Askew with 2.32 kills per set, while Abby Pickett is right behind at 2.21 kps.
 
Allison Frizzell is pacing the OBU defense with 5.36 digs per set, while Kelley Ballard has added 73 blocks.
 
The Reddies enter the contest on Saturday with a 6-21 record following a 3-1 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
 
Ty Lindberg leads HSU with 2.97 kills per game, while Lindberg and Lauren Ray each add more than three digs per set.
