DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern closes out the home portion of its 2015 schedule on Nov. 10 when it hosts Oklahoma Baptist at 7 p.m. in Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium.
The Savage Storm come into the contest at 6-21 on the year and 4-10 in Great American Conference play, holding a two game lead over Henderson State for the final spot in the league's postseason tournament.
That means a win in either of the final two Savage Storm games either Tuesday or Thursday night at East Central would lock up the final playoff spot, as would a loss by HSU I either of their final two contests which are at home against Arkansas-Monticello Tuesday and on the road versus Southern Arkansas on Thursday.
SE is coming off of back-to-back five-set losses against Southern Nazarene and Northwestern Oklahoma State which snapped back-to-back wins lading into the week.
The Storm has been getting huge games out of
Julia Benford who has lifted her kills per set mark to 2.91 on the year, while Abby Jameon's mark of 3.50 still leads the offense.
Arianna Baker has also come on strong, lifting her output to 2.01 kills per set.
Alissa Benson has benefitted from that offensive pickup, lifting her assists average to 9.32 aps, while also adding 2.26 digs per set and 47 total blocks.
While picking up their offensive games, Benford and Baker has continued to patrol the net with Baker putting down 67 total blocks while Benford is not far behind at 60.
Meanwhile,
Charlene Nerio's 4.38 digs per set leads a trio of defenders with more than two digs per set.
The two teams first met in Shawnee, Okla., on Sept. 22 where OBU handed SE a 3-1 loss, but had trouble containing Jameson who matches a match high with 16 kills.
The Bison are 17-11 overall and 12-2 in GAC play, but are not eligible for the conference tournament due to their provisional membership status.
They come to town winners of two-straight and leaning on a trio of hitters who are dishing out two of more kills per set, led by Priscila Mendes.
Kaitlyn Lucy is turning in 6.41 digs per set on the back row, while Nicole Fleitman has 83 total blocks.
