SE Wraps Season at GAC Championship

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Southeastern closed out the inaugural season of its women's track and field program with a solid outing at the Great American Conference Championship meet as the Savage Storm posted six top-10 finishes along with a series of school and personal bests.
 
The top Savage Storm finish came in the 4x400 meter relay where the team of A'Mya Powell, MaKaylah Britton, Skye Summers and Rebekah Christman posted a seventh-place finish with a time of 4:12.90, just missing a top-six finish which would earn team points.
 
Relays were strong for SE as the 4x100 meter relay team of Caitlyn Cooper, Martie Shockley, Powell, and Britton posted a school-record time of 50.31 to finish eighth.
 
Shockley also posted a new school best mark individually in the 400 meter hurdles, turning in a mark of 1:06.26 to finish eighth as well.
 
Britton added a 10^th-place finish in the 100 meter hurdles after posting a run of 15.79, while Madelynn Coffey also turned in a 10^th-place finish in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 48:36.22.
 
In the field events, Danielle Doggett posted a 10^th place finish with a school-best javelin throw of 27.78 meters.
 
Sarah Murphy added a new school record mark in the heptathlon with a point total of 3,035 to finish 11^th.
 
SE had nine season-best marks posted on the weekend.
