ARLINGTON, Texas – Southeastern wrapped up its first outdoor track and field action of the season with
Mia Stewart and
Emma Berry securing new school records while the Savage Storm picked up event titles in the shot put, 4x100 meter relay, and 400 meter hurdles at the UTA Invitational in Arlington, Texas.
Stewart put up her new school record in the long jump where she turned in a 5.52 meter leap to finish third in the event, while
Kaydence Strong followed with a jump of 5.25 to finish fourth with
Camaella Achuo turning in a top-10 finish in eighth with a 4.90 meter leap.
Emma Berry followed with a school record in the discus where she tossed 41.82 meters which was good for third in the event.
Campbell Corcoran was next in line with a throw of 38.16 meters to finish fourth, while
Khareah Horton,
Latiana Gipson, and
Kaitlyn Ervin turned in top-10 finishes.
Gipson added a first-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 11.66 meters, with Ervin and Corcoran joining her in the top-10.
Ja'Marriah Powell,
Taniya Burke,
Camaella Achuo, and Gipson teamed up to win the 4x100 meter relay in a time of 47.52.
Madison Rowe rounded out the event wins in the 400-meter hurdles where she clocked a time of 1:03.70 to take the top spot while
Marcy Monell Ponceano and
Sequoya McAdoo finished in the top-10.
Ervin turned in a second-place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 50.44 meters, while Horton and
Kayla Hall added top-10 finishes.
Ashlen Clem,
Naiomi Rochelle, Rowe, and
A'Daria Slay teamed up in the 4x400 meter relay and finished second with a time of 3:59.60.
Slay turned in a third-place finish in the 400 meter with a time of 58.29, while
Uryaha Brown and Rochelle each finished in the top-10.
Southeastern will be back on track on March 20 at the Louisiana Classic in Lafayette, La.
