Rowe's 400M Hurdle Title Leads Storm at GAC Championships

SEARCY, Ark. – Madison Rowe set a Great American Conference Meet record on her way to winning a conference championship in the 400-meter hurdles and leading Southeastern to a seventh-place finish at the 2026 GAC Championships on Friday evening in Searcy, Ark.
 
The Savage Storm finished the weekend with 11 All-GAC performances, led by Rowe's GAC Title, on their way to 41 team points.
 
Rowe clocked a school record, facility record, and GAC Championship Meet record on her way to her second career individual conference championship. Her 59.39 is also an NCAA Provisional qualifying mark and currently ranks in the top-15 nationally.
 
Southeastern also saw seven student-athletes earn Academic Honor Roll honors in Ashlynn Barrett, Emma Berry, Ashlen Clem, Katlen Clem, Sarah Coblentz, Calibre Keene, and Andrea Lopez.
 
Khareah Horton put the Storm on the board first with her second team All-GAC effort in the hammer throw on Wednesday afternoon, turning in a sixth-place finish on a throw of 41.98 meters which puts her in the top-20 all-time at SE and is the sixth-best throw this season.
 
Southeastern added its second all-conference performance to close out Thursday's action when Calibre Keene clocked her best 3,000-meter steeplechase time of the season to finish seventh, earning honorable mention All-GAC honors.
 
Madison Rowe advanced to the finals in both the 400-meter hurdles and the 400 meters, putting up a 1:02.46 in the hurdles which qualified first and a 57.14 in the 400 meters which was good for eighth in the prelims.
 
Naiomi Rochelle joined her in the finals of the 400-meter hurdles, posting a 1:05.99 to finish seventh.
 
Rowe closed out the finals of the 400-meter run with an eighth-place finish on a time of 59.29, earning honorable mention all-GAC recognition.
 
In addition to Rowe's GAC championship in the 400-meter hurdles, Rochelle clocked a 1:06.17 to finish in fifth and earn second team All-GAC honors.
 
SE sent a pair to the finals of the 100 meters with Camaella Achuo posting a wind-aided 11.98 to advance in 5th while Ja'Marriah Powell set a school record with a non-wind-aided 12.10 to move on in eighth.
 
Powell would turn in the better time in the finals, clocking an 11.76 to finish fourth and earn second team All-GAC, while Achuo posted a time of 12.22 to finish eighth and pick up honorable mention honors. Both times in the finals were wind aided.
 
Powell was not done as she cracked a second school record in the 200-meter prelims, turning in a 24.63 to finish sixth and advance to the finals.
 
She would shave a tenth of a second off her prelim time but her finals mark of 24.53 was still good for sixth place and a new school record, as well as earning her second team All-GAC honors.
 
Latiana Gipson picked up the first All-GAC honors on Friday with an eighth-place showing in the discus with a toss of 39.42 meters, finishing just ahead of Kaitlyn Ervin in ninth with a toss of 39.32 meters.
 
The 4x100 meter relay squad of A'Daria Slay, Kaydence Strong, Achuo, and Powell turned in first-team All-GAC performances with a time of 46.91 which was the second-fastest time in school history and placed them third in the race.
 
Anahi Machuca posted a school record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:35.87 on her way to a 12^th place finish.
 
The 4x400 meter relay squad of Achuo, Brown, Slay, and Rowe closed out the championship with a fourth-place finish with time of 3:51.94, earning second team all-conference honors.
