DURANT, Okla. – Despite delays and adjustments, Southeastern rodeo was able to open the 2021 season at Northwestern Oklahoma State with a modified format to allow for the event to be completed in two days.

The competition was changed from a long round and short round format to just a one go-round competition.

The women capitalized winning the competition and the men turned in a fourth place finish.

On the women's side early in the competition
Katelyn Hobbie was able to post a 13.26 run that held up for a second place finish in the barrel racing.

Late in the breakaway,
Kaycee Hollingback posted a time of 2.1 that split a 3rd/4th/5th place split for the weekend.Â

The final women's event was goat tying which saw
Martie Shockley and
Cierra Doyal post matching 6.3 runs that split 2nd/3rd place.

The event kicked off with bareback rider
Dylan Riggins turning in a score of 67 splitting a 4th/5th place finish for the competition.Â

All around cowboys
Kolton White and
Wyatt Rogers were able to capitalize in the bull riding competition, with Rogers Wyatt turning in a score of 76 to finish third, while White turned in an 82 earning him 2nd for the weekend. Bull rider
Mason Ward also checked in with a 5
th place finish after posting a score of 68.

Rush Hodges was the last cowboy to go in the tie down roping and was able to post an 8.5, winning the event. Freshman
Cord McDonald posted a 9.5, splitting a 7th/8th place finish in the competition.

The Savage Storm will be back in action at Fort Scott Community College March 12th-14th.
