SE Women Sweep HSU, OBU

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Southeastern ended the regular season in a flurry with a 5-2 win over Henderson State and a 4-0 win over Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia, Ark., to earn the number two seed in the Great American Conference Tennis Tournament.
 
The Savage Storm close out the regular season at 13-8 overall and 5-1 in GAC play and will get a bye in the first round of the conference tournament set for April 23-24 in Bentonville, Ark. SE will face the winner between Arkansas Tech and Ouachita Baptist at 3 p.m. April 23, and with a win, would play in the Final at 11 a.m. on April 24.
 
Southeastern got off to a good start versus HSU by taking the doubles point.
 
Georgia Hosking and India Shiaelis picked up a 6-3 win at number two, while Elizaveta Tregubova and Vanessa Nitu added a 6-1 win at number three.
 
The Reddies would pick up wins at one and three singles, but Nitu would earn a 6-2, 6-1 victory at number two to even the match at 2-2.
 
The Storm would then dominate in the lower half of the singles lineup, beginning with Tregubova who snagged a 6-1, 6-2 win at number four to regain the lead.
 
Shiaelis nearly matched her by picking up a 6-2, 6-2, win at number five to clinch the win.
 
Vanessa Cozamanis would close out the 5-2 win by pulling out a 6-0, 3-6, 1-0 win at number six.
 
SE closed out the regular season in a dominant fashion with a 4-0 sweep of the Tigers in Arkadelphia, Ark.
 
The Storm would sweep through doubles, beginning with Zulay Castaneda and Cozamanis taking one doubles 6-3.
 
Hosking and Shiaelis followed with a 6-0 win at number two, while Nitu and Tregubova tallied a 6-3 win at number three.
 
Castaneda would carry her momentum into singles play with a 6-1, 6-2 win at number one to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
 
Nitu picked up her second singles win of the weekend by adding a 6-1, 6-3 win at number two.
 
Tregubova would clinch the 4-0 victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win at number four to bring the match to an end.
