TYLER, Texas – Southeastern posted 13 marks that rank as top-10's in program history in its opening weekend of the outdoor season, led by
Daryn Batts turning in a school record toss in the shot put at the Texas-Tyler Icebreaker in Tyler, Texas.

Batts led a group of throwers who combined across the shot put and discus to post six top-10 finishes at the Icebreaker meet.
Â
In the shot put, Batts turned in a toss of 12.44 meters which was 0.14 meters better than the previous best mark and was good for fourth-place at the meet.
Â
Samantha Wallis was right behind with a 12.35 meter toss to finish fifth at UTT while ranking as the second-best throw in SE history.
Â
Mariana Mendez turned in a 10
th-place finish with a throw of 10.13 which was also good for 15
th on Southeastern's all-time list.
Â
Batts and Wallis mirrored their fourth and fifth place finishes in the discus, with Batts turning in the program's eight-best throw of 34.27 meters, followed by a 34.07 meter throw by Wallis which ranks ninth all-time.
Â
Kathryn Newsom was next in line with a 30.18 meter throw which was also good for 10
th at the meet and ranks 14tth all-time.

SE's relay teams also fared well compared to the Storm record book, with the 4x400 meter team of
Trinity Booker,
Demi Zavala,
Amore Armstrong, and Denaye Thomas turning in a time of 4:06.22 to finish fourth at the meet while ranking as the second-best run in program history.

The 4x100 meter teams were equally as solid, with the "A" grouping of
Alani Calahan,
Charisma Lacy-Ray,
Amore Armstrong, and Denaye Thomas turning in a 49.24 to finish third in the race and rank as the third best run for SE. Meanwhile, the "B" grouping of
CaTia Gladney,
Kenecia Stringfellow, Zavala, and Booker turned in a time of 51.59 to finish fifth at the meet.

Thomas and Armstrong turned in top-10 finishes in the 400 meter as well, with Thomas clocking 1:00.45 to finish fifth while Armstrong was in seventh with a mark of 1:01.96. Both rank as top-10 times in the event for SE all-time.

Alexis Longoria and
Megan Rose turned in top-10 finishes in the 5,000 meter run, with both reaching the Storm top-10 list. Longoria stopped the clock with a time of 20:45.49 to finish ninth, while Rose clocked a 21:01.21 to finish 10
th.

Madelynn Coffey joined them among the distance best performances, running the 10,000 meter in a time of 46:43.95 which was good for a ninth place finish and a top-10 spot in SE's career list.
