Wallis, Rowe Set Record at East Texas Invite

COMMERCE, Texas – Madison Rowe and Samantha Wallis combined to break three school records as Southeastern athletes combined for 15 top-10 finishes at the East Texas Invitational held in Commerce, Texas, over the weekend.

Wallis broke a pair of school marks in the field events where the Savage Storm had more than half of the team's top-10 finishes.

She started in the shot put where she smashed her recently set school record of 12.96 meters by nearly a half-meter, hitting 13.36 meters which was good enough to win the shot put event.

She also set a new school mark in the javelin where her 35.49-meter toss passed her own previous mark from the 2021 season by nearly a meter, earning her a third-place finish at the event.

Malori Pletcher was next in line in both events for the Storm, posting a fourth-place finish in the shot put and the javelin, while nearly setting a record of her own with a 1.50-meter high jump which ranks as the second-best jump in school history.

Rowe also broke her own school record, taking two weeks to improve on her time in the 800 meter, running a 2:23.15 over the weekend to improve her time by 0.33 seconds. Her run earned her a third-place finish in the event.

Kaitlyn Cedillo and Aliya Carrizales each turned in top-10 finishes at the East Texas Invitational in the 800 meter as well.

Chrisma Lacy Raye posted a pair of all-time to-10 runs for the Storm, with her 100 meter run coming in at fourth all-time at 12.57, while her 200 meter was the eighth best at 25.68.

Amore Armstrong would best her in the 100 meter though, posting the second fastest time in SE history at 12.50.

Makensi Greenwood would also set a pair of top-five all-time runs, first turning in a 1:06.66 mark in the 400 meter hurdles which ranks second all time and was good for a sixth place finish in the event.

She would add a second-place finish in the 1,500 meter with a time of 4:55.99 which is the fourth-best 1,500 meter time in school history, and the fastest since 2021.

Southeastern will take to the track one more time at the Red wolves Open April 21-22 before heading into the postseason with the Great American conference Championship Meet slated for May 4-6.
