SE Track and Field Set for Rumble in the Jungle Jan. 24

DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern is set to pick up the pace on the 2025 indoor track and field season as it heads north to Pittsburg, Kan., for the Rumble in the Jungle on Friday, Jan. 24, hosted by Pittsburg State.
 
Field events begin at 12:30 p.m., with running events slated for 3 p.m.
 
The Savage Storm put together a combined eighth-place performance at the Owen Hewett Invitational in Norman, Okla., with 22 total teams participating.
 
Samantha Wallis and Madison Rowe led the way as SE posted a top-five finish in the open competition and a top-10 effort in the invite.
 
The Savage Storm were fifth among division II schools and posted the top finish of any Great American Conference program, beating out Southern Nazarene, Oklahoma Baptist and Northwestern Oklahoma State, finishing with 52.6 points for the meet.
 
Wallis would provide the largest score as she picked up an event championship in the open shot put on a throw of 12.87 meters, and provided more points with a fifth-place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 14.49 meters.
 
She is now second in the conference in both the shot put and the weight throw.
 
Rowe would set the 400-meter indoor record for the second-straight meet, finishing fourth in the 400-meter invite section with a converted time of 58.77.
 
She would add a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter invite section with a time of 27.71.
 
Rowe is currently ranked fourth this season with in the GAC in the 200 meters and fourth in the 400 meters.
 
In the sprints, SE would send three runners to the finals in the 60 meters, with Je'Mela Harris finishing fifth in the finals with an 8.00 run, followed by Jaiden Leighton in ninth at 8.10, and Ashton Carter in 12th with a time of 8.21.
 
The Storm also sent three qualifiers through in the open 60-meter hurdles, where Keyana Brewer would lead the way with a time of 9.95 to finish sixth, followed by Johnson in ninth with a run of 10.01, and Kelsey Sawyer in 11th with a 10.34.
 
In the open competition, Alexis Longoria posted a fourth-place finish on a run of 5:31.93, while Clem came back and added an eighth-place finish and a time of 5:43.02.
 
Jayda Williams is tied for fourth in the GAC in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.14, while SE's best 4x400 meter mark also ranks fourth on the league's performance list.
