Powell, Rowe Set School Records in Season Opener

TOPEKA, Kan. – Ja'Marriah Powell and Madison Rowe led the way with new school records as Southeastern opened the 2025-26 Indoor Track and Field season on Saturday afternoon at Washburn in Topeka, Kan.
 
Powell set a new mark in the 60 meters with a time of 7.84, beating the previous best of 7.91, and finishing 18^th in the prelims.
 
Taniya Burke, Latiana Gipson, and Camella Achuo each posted sub-8.00 marks and join Powell with top 10 all-time marks.
 
Rowe led a similar charge in the 200 meters, turning in a new school best run of 25.09, beating her own school record mark of 25.28 set nearly a year to the day ago. She finished 10^th in a stacked 200 meter prelim.
 
Adaria Slay, Burke, Powell, and Gipson turned in sub-26.00 runs and rewrote the top 10 in the record book, joining Rowe to take five of the 10 best marks.
 
Rowe also turned in a top-eight finish with a time og 58.91 in the 400 meters, ranking as the fourth-best time in SE's indoor record book.
 
Mia Stewart turned in a 5.21 meter jump in her first long jump for the Storm, finishing 16^th in the event and posting the third-longest jump in SE's indoor history.
 
The Savage Storm will be off for over a month before returning to the track Jan. 16 at the Owen Hewett Invitational hosted by the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla.
