DURANT, Okla. – The 2025 season kicks off for the Southeastern volleyball program on Sept. 4-6 in Wichita Falls, Texas, with the Midwestern State Invitational, where the Storm will play four matches across three days.
SE opens play on Thursday, Sept. 4, at 6 p.m. with a match against Midwestern State, followed by a contest against Oklahoma Christian at 2 p.m. on Friday. The team will wrap up the invitational with two matches on September 6: first at 9 a.m. against William Jewell and then at 3 p.m. against Newman.
STORM REPORT
Southeastern enters the 2025 season after a 13-16 campaign and finished 8-8 in Great American Conference play to earn the sixth seed at the conference tournament. The Savage Storm team is returning eight players from last year, including their digs leader and two of their top-five kills leaders. In addition, the blue and gold added four transfers to the squad, part of ten newcomers entering 2025.
Helping lead the attack will be senior outside hitter
Noelia Rocha, who racked up 238 kills across 113 sets in 2024. The San Antonio, Texas native featured in all 29 matches last season, and had ten double-digit kill contests, including a career-high 17 in the first meeting with East Central. Rocha is also joined by
Faith Kruebbe and
Maci Morrison, who chipped in 166 and 87 kills, respectively.
In addition to their offensive production, both Morrison and Kruebbe will have a hand in the defensive duties for the Storm. Morrison finished last year third on the team in total blocks with 47.0 and was second in solo denials, recording 11. Kruebbe is second among the returners in digs, after averaging 2.13 per set last season for 209 digs. The Carthage, Texas native also provided 26.0 total blocks at the net and had 20 service aces.
Among the newcomers are two setters who will aim to take over the setting duties for SE in 2025.
Riley McFarland, a sophomore transfer, played in 17 matches as a freshman at Cameron and recorded 41 assists and 34 digs in 35 sets of action. SE also added a true freshman from Cedar Park, Texas,
Jasmin Dion, who racked up 2,104 assists while playing for Vista Ridge High School.
SCOUTING MIDWESTERN STATE
Midwestern State was picked to finish 11
th in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll after a 15-14 year last season, which marked the first winning season for the Mustangs since 2013. MSU landed three on the LSC players to watch list, led by Isabella Dickens, Demi Stauffenberg and Alayna Guerrero. Dickens and Stauffenberg ranked second and third on the team in 2024 in kills with 273 and 268, respectively, while Guerrero paced the side with 532 assists.
SCOUTING OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN
The Eagles checked in at seventh in the 2025 LSC Preseason Poll, following its first 20-win season in the Division II era. Oklahoma Christian returns 12 players from 2024, including its all-time kills leader in Annie Davis and second-place all-time assists leader in Sophie Mae Smith. In addition, OC also brings back last season's kills leader, Chloe Smith, who recorded 376 kills on a .248 attack percentage.
SCOUTING WILLIAM JEWELL
William Jewell enters the 2025 season under first-year head coach Joe Adamas, who takes over after the Cardinals finished last year 7-22. William Jewell was picked to finish 14 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Preseason Poll ahead of the start of the new season.
SCOUTING NEWMAN
The Newman Jets were voted 12
th in the 2025 MIAA Preseason Poll after an 8-22 season in 2024 that saw them finish 3-17 in conference play. Head coach Mike MacNeill begins his first season with Newman, and returns six players from last season, including Hannah Tymitz, who leads the returners in kills. Tymitz had 130 kills in 2024 on a .136 attack percentage and ranked third on the team with 54.0 total blocks.
