Machuca, Clem Set Records at Gorilla Classic

TOPEKA, Kan. – Anahi Machuca and Ashlen Clem each turned in school record performances as Southeastern wraps up competition at the Russ Jewett Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kan.
 
Machuca got the record breaking started in the 3,00 meter on Saturday afternoon with a run of 11:12.30 in the 3,000 meters which was good for a 39^th place finish in a loaded field.
 
Clem faced a larger field of her own in the mile run where she put together a run of 5:19.10 on her way to a 24^th place finish.
 
Southeastern posted top-15 finishes in both of its relay runs, with the distance medley relay foursome of Calibre Keene, Clem, Andrea Lopez, and Machuca put together a run of 13:25.28 to finish 12^th.
 
A'Daria Slay, Madison Rowe, Naiomi Rochelle, and Ashlynn Barrett wrapped up the weekend in the 4x400 meter relay where they finished 15^th in a time of 3:59.46.
 
Slay turned in the best individual placing of the weekend with a sixth-place run in the 600 yards in a time of 1:29.96, while Barrett followed in 11^th with a run of 1:31.82 and Rochelle was 13^th at 1:32.29.
 
Alana Fontenot, Sequoya McAdoo, and Marcy Monell Ponceano each posted top-20 runs in the event as well.
