RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southeastern's
Emma Thompson was selected as the GAC Golfer of the Week after finishing fourth at the WinStar Invitational.
Â
Thompson becomes the second player to earn Golfer of the Week recognition for the SE women's golf program, joining
Karen Kim, who picked up the program's first honors last season.
Â
The McKinney, Texas native was an instant impact for the Savage Storm team in her first tournament wearing the blue and gold, as she shot even-par 216 across 54 holes of play. The sophomore transfer set the tone early in round one, carding a 4-under 68 with seven birdies, which tied the lowest individual round at the tournament. Â
Â
Thompson's second round was highlighted by an eagle sunk on the par 4 hole 12, and she would finish the round 1-over 73. The sophomore rounded out her first tournament with a 3-over 75 in round three and would finish with ten total birdies after adding two more on the final day.
Â
Southeastern returns to the course on September 14-15 at the NSU Women's Classic in Tulsa, Okla., at the Page Belcher Golf Course.
