Basketball (1994-98)
Mouziane “Mo” Deeb was a post player for the Lady Savage basketball team during the most celebrated era of women’s basketball at Southeastern.
Deeb was born February 13, 1976, in Escondido, California, and moved to Sand Springs, Oklahoma in 1988. She was a stellar athlete at Sand Springs High School where she was an All-State selection in basketball and a state qualifier in shot-put.
Deeb was a four-year starter and helped lead the Lady Savages to four consecutive national tournament appearances from 1994 to 1998. Her freshman and sophomore seasons were capped with runner-up finishes behind NAIA perennial power Southern Nazarene. The Lady Savages advanced to the Sweet Sixteen during her junior and senior seasons. The Lady Savages amassed a record of 110 wins and 19 losses during her career.
Deeb achieved great success, not only on the court, but in the classroom as well. As an athlete, she ranks second in all-time scoring and rebounding in the Lady Savage record book with 1,360 points and 853 rebounds. She also ranks fifth in the all-time block category with 86. Mo was a three-time all-conference player and was twice named an NAIA All-American Scholar Athlete.
Her relentlessness on the court and in the classroom epitomized the term “student-athlete”. She has multi-faceted talents and was a highly competitive athlete. Her outstanding physical skills gave her the ability to play with great intensity.
Deeb’s successes on the court and in the classroom brought recognition to herself, the Lady Savage basketball program, and Southeastern. The University honored her with membership in the Southeastern Athletic Hall of Fame on February 12, 2005.
